"Every concentrate product I tried was terrible. So I built one that wasn't."

— Roger Volodarsky, founder & CEO

The Origin — Brooklyn, 2013

Puffco was founded in 2013 by Roger Volodarsky in Brooklyn, New York. Roger's origin story is the same as every great product company's: he couldn't find what he wanted, so he built it. Concentrate vaporizers in 2013 were universally terrible — cheap plastic pens that burned product, clogged constantly, and tasted like chemicals. Roger saw an obvious gap and filled it.

The original Puffco Plus pen launched in 2013 and was immediately different. Better materials, better atomizer design, better performance. But the real turning point came in 2019 with the Puffco Peak — the first premium e-rig. It changed the concentrate category permanently. Before the Peak, concentrate use meant a torch, a banger, and a lot of risk of burning your material. The Peak made it electronic, repeatable, and safe. The category hasn't looked the same since.

Puffco is now based in Los Angeles, and Roger has built a team that treats vaporizer design with the same seriousness as consumer electronics. The Bluetooth app, the 4D chamber, the Real-Time temperature control on the Peak Pro — these aren't marketing features. They're solutions to real problems in the concentrate vaping experience.

The Philosophy — Technology Should Make It Better

Puffco's thesis is that concentrate vaping should be as accessible, repeatable, and enjoyable as any other form of vaping — and that technology is the tool to make that happen. Every Puffco product is app-connected. Every Puffco product has multiple heat modes. Every Puffco product is designed to make the user more in control of their experience, not less. The company genuinely believes that better tools produce better sessions.

Puffco also builds community in a way most vaporizer brands don't. The Peak Pro's ecosystem — accessories, limited edition glass, collaborations — treats concentrate users as enthusiasts who want to customize and grow their setup over time. The Proxy takes this furthest: one smart base, compatible with any 14mm glass piece ever made. It's a platform philosophy, not a product philosophy.

Where They Are Now

Puffco is the dominant brand in premium concentrate vaping. The Peak Pro 3DXL is the current flagship — the 3D chamber heats from all sides simultaneously for dramatically more consistent extraction than traditional flat-coil atomizers. The Proxy, Switch 2, Pivot, and Vista Mini 2 cover every price point and use case in the concentrate category. Roger is still at the helm and still shipping products that move the category forward.

★ CVK on Puffco

Puffco built the concentrate vaping category as we know it. The Peak Pro is the standard every other e-rig is compared against. The Proxy is the most innovative product concept in the concentrate space. Roger Volodarsky started with a problem — bad concentrate pens — and a decade later leads the premium segment of the category he helped create. If you're doing concentrates, you're either buying Puffco or comparing against Puffco.
